Supplies
There are no additional supplies needed for Latin class other than what is already required by your student's fifth grade teachers. Your student should have a Latin folder or section in their binder/accordion folder.
However, we do a fair amount of activities that involve coloring, so it is a good idea to make sure your student has access to crayons, markers or colored pencils. Also, I very graciously accept any donations in the way of prizes for students. The FLEX program does not grade students, but I do like to reward students with prizes for good behavior, effort, questions, or general amazingness in Latin class. We also play Jeopardy every 9 weeks and the top three teams receive prizes. With more than 500 students, this can get a bit pricey for me. I appreciate any help! Stickers are especially great and can be cheap. The dollar section at Target is also a a most beautiful place. |
Helping Your Child with LatinJust asking your child what they learned in Latin class can be supportive and encouraging!
Helping your child review their vocabulary and learning along with them can also help them retain knowledge and build confidence when learning a new language. Students and parents have access to online Latin games that review vocabulary and can be found in the "Students" section of the website. There are no grades, but students are expected to engage in class assignments and projects. Like many challenges, what you put in is what you get out. |
