About MeSalve! My name is Adriana Casarez, and I am in my third year as a Latin teacher for Austin ISD's One World Schools language program. I graduated from the University of Texas of Austin with majors in History and Latin. I also received my teaching certification from the UTeach Liberal Arts program.
Besides Latin, I took five years of Spanish in high school and university. While I have not completely mastered the Spanish language yet, my knowledge of it has greatly helped my acquisition and appreciation of the Latin language. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, frequenting live music shows, playing the drums, watching movies at the Alamo Drafthouse, and telling you corny jokes. |
One World Schools Program |
Now in its third year in AISD, the One World Schools program is exclusive to the Anderson vertical team at all five elementary feeder schools. The One World Schools program focuses on foreign language exploration (FLEX). Students will receive 30 minutes of instruction once a week depending on their grade level: 1st-Spanish, 2nd-French, 3rd-German, 4th-Chinese (Mandarin) and 5th-Latin. Through this exposure, students will be able to make a more informed decision on which language to pursue when they arrive at the middle school arena.
Our program focuses on generating Enrichment, Exposure and Excitement for foreign languages. At all levels we do this by introducing students to languages and culture with interactive activities and games. . |
